Our Beliefs & Values

We believe that Jesus is the sacrifice that atones for our sins, and not only our sins but the sins of all the world. —1 John 2:2

Jesus Is The Christ, The Son Of God

All that we believe and do is directly linked to our belief and firm conviction that Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ, the Son of the living God. We believe that Jesus was sent by the Father from heaven to redeem mankind from our sins. We believe that through his death on the cross and the resurrection that followed, Christ has destroyed the power of sin and death. He has opened up the way for us to know God as our Eternal Father.

A Redeemed Life: A Second Chance

All of us have sinned. The Good News of Jesus is that God sent his Son into this world not to condemn us, but to save us. Christ Jesus came as the Redeemer and Savior who would give his life as a ransom for us. In Christ we find grace, mercy, forgiveness, and redemption. It is written in Scripture that if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation. The old has gone and the new has come! All of this is the work of God. As a result, we have an obligation to the Lord. We no longer live for ourselves; instead, we must live for the one who died for us and was raised again (2 Corinthians 5:15-17).

The Holy Spirit Has Been Sent To Us To Help Us

Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to help us live the new life Jesus offers us through his death and resurrection. The New Testament teaches that everyone who is baptized into Christ receives the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). Therefore, the body of every Christian is a temple of the Holy Spirit of God who lives within each one of us (1 Corinthians 6:19). We live by the Spirit, are led by the Spirit, and must keep in step with the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-25).

Believer's Baptism

On the basis of Matthew 28:18-20 we believe that baptism is an essential part of becoming a disciple of Jesus. The Apostles taught that when we are baptized we receive the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38-39). Through faith in Jesus and baptism into Christ we are clothed with Christ so that we are now one in Christ (Galatians 3:26-28). This baptism also unites us with Christ's death and resurrection so that it brings us new life in Christ (Romans 6:3-5). We are born again of water and the Spirit (John 3:1-8). And we are raised with Christ through our faith in the power of God who raised Jesus from the dead (Colossians 2:11-13).

The Bible Is God's Word

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God which proclaims to us the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Therefore it possesses divine authority. It is the foundation for our beliefs and it instructs us in the way to live our lives so that we may please the Lord in every way.

People Matter: The Greatest Command is to Love

The greatest command is to love God. The second greatest is to love one another (Matthew 22:36-40). We are called to be imitators of God and to live a life of love (Ephesians 5:1-2). This truth is to permeate everything that we do in life: “Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us” (1 John 4:11-12).

Prayer Changes Things

Jesus taught us to pray and to never give up. Through prayer we offer up thanksgiving and praise to the Lord of glory. We believe that God’s ears are attentive to the prayers of those who earnestly seek him. Therefore we pray boldly and persistently for all people with all kinds of requests and appeals to the Lord to take action in our world in keeping with his will.

Priesthood of Believers—Saved and Sanctified to Serve

Our aim as a church is to challenge and encourage every Christian to use whatever talents and abilities he or she has been given to serve the Lord and to be actively involved in the life and ministries of the church. We believe that God has called all Christians to be priests who serve in the name of Jesus (1 Peter 2:9 and Revelation 1:5-6). Every Christian has been sanctified by the blood of Jesus to serve the living God (Hebrews 9:14).
