Jonathan Merchant has been a part of the WWCOC staff since 2001. He believes that some of the most impressionable years of one's life is during their youth. He is passionate about instilling Godly values in teens to prepare them for adulthood.
Building Godly Leaders for Life
The teens ministry at Woodland West Church of Christ is an exciting and eventful group for 7th through 12th graders. While being part of this group can be a lot of fun, it's also about developing a deeper relationship with God as well as preparing for the responsibilities of adulthood.
Being in the teens ministry is all about maturing in faith and life. We offer activities that keep each teen involved in the community and with each other. There are weekly Bible studies, Bible classes, and activities designed to help each other grow in Christ and in friendship with one another.
We believe in spending time away from the noise of life to concentrate on our spiritual life. Taking time away from cell phones, busy schedules, and our daily routines help us focus more on God. The teens have many retreat opportunities to experience this.
Our teens join in with adults during worship service on Sunday mornings. Many participate in leadership roles during service. We also have special Sunday services which are led entirely by members of the teens group.
What's It All About?
Everyone knows that being a teenager is difficult. Surviving this part of life is the approach most people seem to take. At Woodland West Church of Christ we think this is a great time to get your life on track — set goals, mature in life and in the Lord. We believe that the bonds that begin here will have a life-long positive effect on our teens.
As a part of this group teens (and their parents) may participate in events such as Opportunity Camp, Pine Springs Camp, UpLift Camp, Adventures in Missions (AIM), retreats, Bible studies, and so much more!
