Youth and Family Minister Job Description

The primary objective of the youth and family minister, in partnership with parents and families, will be to shape the hearts and minds of young people for Christ through all kinds of discipleship experiences intended for spiritual formation. Our Youth and Family Ministry is committed to building relationships with teens and parents, to bring people into a relationship with Jesus Christ, and help them grow in their faith and service. We value family very highly, we want families walking with their children of all ages as they mature and grow deeper in their faith.

High Priorities

The highest priorities of this ministry are to lead young people to Christ and then to help them grow deeply in the Lord — through both teaching and experiences — so that they learn to keep in step with the transforming Spirit of God living within them. Among the many things that this will include, the youth minister will attempt to help them to grow and learn how to:

  • Seek and submit to the will of God.

  • Share Jesus with others.
  • Identify themselves with a deep sense of belonging to the family of God.
  • Seek truth by respectfully asking honest and difficult questions concerning the Christian faith, the church, our world and ourselves in such a way that it results in a greater appreciation of the challenging call of Christ on our lives, cultivates a desire to know God better, and transforms our attitudes into conformity with Christ's.
  • Build and strengthen families through the spiritual development of the whole family.

It is imperative that the youth minister teach and lead by example in all of these things.
